Men's Hoops Edged By St. Anselm, 87-83, In Final Game Before Holiday Break
UB Now 7-4 On The Season
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team lost its final game before the Holiday Break falling to the visiting Saint Anselm College Hawks, 87-83, in Hubbell Gym on Tuesday afternoon. UB is now 7-4 overall; while Saint Anselm ups its overall record to 6-4.
UB hit nine more field goals than the Hawks on the afternoon, 36-27, but Saint Anselm finished with a huge advantage at the free throw line connecting on 24-of-28 shots to Bridgeport's 6-of-7 from the line.
Senior Kyle Benjamin (Bronx, N.Y.) led the Purple Knights with a double-double of 25 points and 14 rebounds.
Benjamin was joined in double-digit scoring by classmate Stefano Osuji (Voorhees, N.J.) with 12 points and sophomore D'Vonne Trumbo (Franklinville, N.J.) with 10 points.
Saint Anslem's Harrison Taggart led all scorers on the afternoon with a career-high 36 points.
The UB men's basketball team will return to the court on Friday, December 30th at Bentley University. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
