Purple Knights Stay Unbeaten In ECC Men's Hoops Play With 79-69 Home Win Over Daemen

Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team remained unbeaten in East Coast Conference play at 3-0 and upped its winning streak to five games with a hard-fought 79-69 home win over the Daemen College Wildcats on Saturday afternoon at Hubbell Gym. UB is now 7-2 overall so far this season. The Wildcats slip to 5-4 overall and are 0-3 in the ECC.
Junior Carlos DeJesus (Bronx, N.Y.) led the Purple Knights in scoring with 17 points, as he connected on 5-of-6 three-point shots.
Carlos was joined in double figures by sophomore Rakim Lesane (Coney Island, N.Y.) with 15 points, 12 of which came in the second half, and senior Kyle Benjamin (Bronx, N.Y.) finished with his seventh double-double of the year with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Junior Sam Joseph (Brooklyn, N.Y.) fell just shy of netting double-digit scoring for the winners with eight points.
Jeff Redband led Daemen with 17 points to tie DeJesus for high-point scorer on the afternoon.
Up next, the UB men's basketball team will travel to St. Thomas Aquinas College for a Thursday night East Coast Conference showdown. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
