Purple Knights Now 4-2 Overall After 88-77 Men's Basketball Victory At Holy Family
Rakim Lesane Leads Four UB Players In Double Figures With 24 Points
Philadelphia, Pa.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team picked up its second straight road victory on Sunday afternoon, as the Purple Knights led from start-to-finish, as UB defeated the host Holy Family University Tigers, 88-77, in the City of Brotherly Love. Bridgeport is now 4-2 overall, and HFU slips to 2-5 so far in 2016-17.
Sophomore Rakim Lesane (Coney Island, N.Y.) led the Purple Knights' offense on Sunday netting a game-high 24 points off the bench.
Rakim was joined in double figures by junior Sam Joseph (Brooklyn, N.Y.) with 20 points, senior Kyle Benjamin (Bronx, N.Y.) with 14 points, and playing in his home city, senior Montana Mayfield scored 13 points for the winners.
Benjamin led UB on the glass grabbing 13 rebounds to notch his fifth double-double in six games so far this year, and Joseph and sophomore D'Vonne Trumbo (Franklinville, N.J.) each had six assists on the day.
Randy Bell and Maliq Sanders lead four Holy Family players in double-digit scoring, as they each had 18 points.
Up next, the UB men's basketball team will close out a rugged, five-game road trip looking for a three-game winning streak, as the Purple Knights open East Coast Conference play at NYIT on Wednesday night. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m.
