Men's Basketball Battels But Suffers First Loss Of 2016-17 At Southern New Hampshire
Purple Knights Fall To Penmen, 85-72
Manchester N.H.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team erased an 18-point, early second half deficit to tie the game at 59-59 with 9:47 to play in the final 20 minutes, but the visiting Purple Knights could never take the lead in the frame, as the Purple Knights suffered their first loss of 2016-17 season at Southern New Hampshire University, 85-72, on Saturday afternoon. UB is now 2-1 on the young season, and SNHU ups it record to 2-0 so far in this season.
Junior Sam Joseph (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led Bridgeport and tied with Southern New Hampshire's Chris Wallace for high-scoring honors in the game with 25 points.
Sophomore Rakim Lesane (Coney Island, N.Y.) netted 18 points off the Bridgeport bench, and senior Kyle Benjamin (Bronx. N.Y.) had 15 points and led the Purple Knights with eight rebounds.
The UB men's basketball team is right back in action tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 p.m., when they travel to Merrimack College.
