UB Men's Basketball Snaps Three-Game Losing Skid With 102-86 Victory Over NYIT
Five Purple Knights Reach Double-Digit Scoring In The Win
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team never trailed in the game, as the Purple Knights snapped a three-game losing streak with a 102-86 home East Coast Conference victory over the visiting NYIT Bears on Saturday afternoon in the Park City. Bridgeport is now 2-5 overall and 1-1 in conference action. NYIT slips to 1-8 overall and is winless at 0-3 in the ECC.
Senior Muhammed Ahmed (Bronx, N.Y.) led five UB players in double figures with 21 points on the day, and he also had seven rebounds.
UB junior Stefano Osuji (Voorhees, N.J.) contributed 16 points, six rebounds and five assists for the winners.
Senior Devon Elliott (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had a double-double for the Purple Knights with 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Classmate Eddie Asamoah (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) also had 15 points for the winners, and senior Jesse Jones (Irvington, N.J.) rounded out the UB quintet in double figures with 11 points.
NYIT was led by Kachi Nzerem with 23 points.
The Bridgeport men's basketball team returns to action next Friday night when they host Roberts Wesleyan College in East Coast Conference play. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m.
