Purple Knights Drop 86-67 Decision To Top-Seeded C.W. Post
Flushing, N.Y.-The upset-minded, third-seeded University of Bridgeport men's basketball team say its 2011-12 season come to end on Sunday afternoon in the championship finals of the 2012 East Coast Conference Tournament, as the Purple Knights fell to the top-seeded C.W. Post Pioneers, 86-67. UB ends its season with a 19-10 record. C.W. Post moves onto the NCAA Division II Championship Tournament with a 23-5 mark.
Junior Darian David (Bronx, N.Y.) led Bridgeport with 17 points. He was joined in double figures by classmate Hakeem Rodriguez (Queensbridge, N.Y.) with 15 points and senior Dante Menter (Brooklyn, N.Y.) with 11 points. Senior William Harrison (Bronx, N.Y.) fell just short of a double-double with eight points and a team-leading 11 rebounds.
ECC Tournament Most Valuable Player Stefan Bonneau of C.W. Post led all scorers in the game with 29 points.
Bridgeport's Darian David and Hakeem Rodriguez earned spots on the 2012 East Coast Conference Championship All-Tournament Team,
