UB Men Wrap Up Four-Game Road Trip With 67-64 Win Over Queens (N.Y.)
Senior William Harrison Records A Double-Double With 17 Points And 10 Rebounds Plus Adds Key Blocked Shot As Times Expires
Flushing, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team ended a four-game road trip with a tough 67-64 East Coast Conference win over the host Queens (N.Y.) College Knights on a balmy January afternoon in New York City. QC had two three-point attempts in the final 23 seconds of play to tie the game, but the final shot was blocked by UB's William Harrison (Sr., Bronx, N.Y.) just before time expired. With the win, Bridgeport is now 8-6 overall and 3-1 conference play. Queens falls to 3-11 overall and 2-2 in the ECC.
Junior Darian David (Bronx, N.Y.) led the Purple Knights in scoring with 19 points. Along with his key blocked shot, Harrison notched a double-double on the afternoon scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Junior Lloyd Antoine (Brooklyn, N.Y.) rounded out the Bridgeport players in double-figure scoring with 10 points, and he added three blocked shots.
UB junior guard Hakeem Rodriguez (Queensbridge, N.Y.) played a solid all-around contest scoring nine points, dishing out eight assists and pulling down six rebounds.
Khalil McDonald of Queens led all scorers on the afternoon with 26 points.
Bridgeport is back in action on Wednesday evening when they open a string of three straight games at home with a 7:00 p.m. East Coast Conference tilt against Molloy College.
