UB Men Throttle Dowling
Purple Knights Score A Season-High 102 Points As They Cruise To Road Win
Oakdale, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team scored a single-game season high in points, and the Purple Knights never trailed as UB cruised to an easy 102-72 East Coast Conference road win over the Dowling College Golden Lions on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, Bridgeport is now 12-8 overall and in a three-way tie for the top spot in the ECC standings with C.W. Post and Queens at 12-3. Dowling falls to 5-15 overall and 5-9 in conference play,
Junior Donte Mentor (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led five Bridgeport players in double-figure scoring netting 19 points off the Purple Knights' bench.
Also scoring in double figures for UB were senior Jermaine Washington (Philadelphia, Pa.) with 16 points, junior Josh Martin (Philadelphia, Pa.) with 15 points and graduate student Dave Boykin (White Plains, N.Y.) and senior Tim Cokley (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.), who each tallied 11 points.
Sean Smith of Dowling led all scorers in the game with 27 points.
The UB men will look to extend their winning streak to three games on Wednesday night when they host Mercy College in Hubbell Gym. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
