Dave Boykin Leads The Purple Knights With 22 Points Going Five-For-Five From Three-Point Range
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team never trailed in the game, as the Purple Knights posted a big 75-65 home East Coast Conference win over the C.W. Post Pioneers on Thursday night. The victory moves Bridgeport into a three-way tie atop the ECC standings with C.W. Post and Queens, as all three teams are now 11-3 in conference play. With the win, UB moves to 11-8 overall. The loss snaps a 10-game winning streak for the Pioneers, who are now 14-7 overall.
Graduate student Dave Boykin (White Plains, N.Y.) celebrated his birthday on Thursday night with a red-hot shooting performance from three-point range connecting on five-of-five shots from beyond the arc, as he led Bridgeport with 22 points. Boykin also had five assists for the winners.
Joining Boykin in double-figure scoring for the Purple Knights were junior Josh Martin (Philadelphia, Pa.) with 15 points and eight assists, senior Msoo Ikyaator (Nigeria, West Africa) with 14 points and seven rebound and senior Tim Cokley (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) with 12 points.
Jonathan Kohler led C.W. Post with 22 points to tie Boykin for game-high scoring honors.
Bridgeport returns to action on Saturday afternoon at Dowling College. Game time on Long Island is set for 3:00 p.m.
