Purple Knights Give Head Coach Mike Ruane His 200th Career Win With An 80-53 Home Triumph Over St. Thomas Aquinas
Dave Boykin Leads UB With 16 Points
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team cruised to its fifth win in a row with an 80-53 home East Coast Conference win over the visiting St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans on Saturday afternoon. The Purple Knights' win also gave UB's eleventh-year head coach Mike Ruane his 200th career victory. Coach Ruane has now amassed a career mark of 200-118 during his tenure in the Park City. Bridgeport is now 10-7 overall and 10-2 in conference play. SATC falls to 4-14 overall and 4-9 in the ECC.
Graduate student Dave Boykin (White Plains, N.Y.) led the Purple Knights in scoring on Saturday with a game-high 16 points. Boykin was joined in double figures by junior Josh Martin (Philadelphia, Pa.), who netted 13 points.
Daniel Skinner and Jamie Blanchard led St. Thomas Aquinas with 10 points apiece.
Bridgeport never trailed in the contest, and the Purple Knights raced out to a 41-13 halftime lead.
Bridgeport is back in action on Monday night at Queens (N.Y.) College. Action gets underway in this key conference match up in New York City at 7:30 pm.
