Baseball Posts Second Straight Victory With An 8-5 Win Over Staten Island
Purple Knights Jump Out To A 7-0 Lead In The Fourth Inning On Their Way To The Triumph
Myrtle Beach, S.C.-The University of Bridgeport baseball team raced out to a 7-0 lead in the fourth inning and held on to post an 8-5 victory over the College of Staten Island Dolphins in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Monday. The Purple Knights, winners of back-to-back games, are now 2-3 overall, and CSI is now 1-4 overall.
Juniors Justin Leigh (Bridgeport, Conn.) and Anthony Pascale (Stony Brook, N.Y.) each drove in two runs for the winners and Monday, and the Purple Knights got one RBI apiece from Michael Fletcher (So., Winter Park, Fla.), Jake Woods (Jr., Stony Brook, N.Y.) and Jeremy Rodrigues (So., Monroe, Conn.). Bridgeport's other run came home on a Dolphins' error.
Freshman Dominic Digrazio (East Hanover, N.J.) earned the win on the mound in relief, and sophomore Tim Dolan (Massapequa, N.Y.) closed things out on the bump to earn the save.
Up next, the UB baseball teams steps away from the Cal Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach and heads North to face Barton College in Wilson, North Carolina for a 2:00 p.m. tilt on Tuesday afternoon.
