Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport baseball team fell in both ends of a home East Coast Conference doubleheader against the NYIT Bears on Saturday afternoon in Seaside Park, as the Purple Knights fell in game one, 6-2, and dropped the nightcap, 6-0. UB is now 10-17 overall and 6-4 in conference play. The Bears up their overall season mark to 19-5, and their ECC record to 9-1.
In the opener, junior Alex Rauso (Trumbull, Conn.) had three hits, and sophomore Vincent DeRubeis (Trumbull, Conn.) had two hits. Sophomore Conall Roberts (Mt. Laurel, N.J.) had the Purple Knights lone RBI in game one.
In game two, NYIT's Joseph Murphy tossed a two-hit, complete game shutout.
The same two teams will close out their four-game, weekend series with a doubleheader at NYIT on Sunday. First pitch of game one is slated for 12 noon.
