Tampa, Fla.-The University of Bridgeport baseball team dropped two games in Florida on Monday to slip to 1-9 on the early season, as the Purple Knights lost 10-5 to Bentley University to open the day and fell at night to national power the University of Tampa, 10-7.
Versus Bentley, freshman Ryan Donnelly (Fairfield, Conn.) continued his fine start to 2019 at the plate with three hits and an RBI, and junior Alex Rauso (Trumbull, Conn.) launched his second home run of the year.
Donnelly and Rauso again starred at the dish against the host Spartans under the lights, as Ryan had two hits, including a triple, as he scored two runs and had an RBI, and Alex went 4-for-5 with a double and a run scored and three runs batted.
Sophomore Conall Roberts (Mount Laurel, N.J.) also had two hits and two runs scored in Monday's second game.
The UB baseball team is back on the diamond on Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. when they play the third of four games in Florida against Bentley at the University of Tampa.
