Big Bats And Strong Pitching Lift UB Baseball To 17-3 Win Over Bentley In 2018 Florida Finale
Team Will Now Set Sights On Conference Play Set To Open At Molloy On Friday
Altamonte Springs, Fla.-The University of Bridgeport baseball team closed out its 2018 Spring Trip to Florida with a big 17-3 win over the Bentley University Falcons on Sunday afternoon. The victory gives the Purple Knights a split of the four-game set with Bentley, and UB is now 3-15 overall. The Falcons are now 6-9 overall.
In Sunday's win, Bridgeport slammed four home runs as part of a 17-hit attack, as senior Ben Torres (Hollywood, Fla.) had a solo homer, graduate student Tom Rinaldi (Waterbury, Conn.) hit a two-run shot, senior Mark Komaromi (Bridgeport, Conn.) slugged a three-run home run and junior Eamon Catherina (Ridgefield, N.J.) blasted a grand slam.
Torres fished with four runs batted in on the day, and UB got two hits apiece from Daren Grabowski (Berlin, Conn.), junior Aiden Burton (Milford, Conn.) and freshman Conall Roberts (Mt. Laurel, N.J.).
On the mound, sophomore Jason Burger (Orlando, Fla.) picked the win working six inning in which he allowed eight hits and one run with five strike outs and no walks.
Up next, the UB baseball team heads back home, and the Purple Knight are slated to open East Coast Conference play at Molloy College on Friday afternoon.
