St. Leo, Fla.-The St. Leo College Lions complete a four-game series sweep of the visiting University of Bridgeport Purple Knights on Tuesday night with a 13-6 victory. With the loss, UB slips to 1-12 overall, and St. Leo ups its season mark to 19-2 with victory, plus the Lions have won 15 games in a row.
Freshman Vincent DeRubeis (Trumbull, Conn.) and senior Isaiah Rivera (Newington, Conn.), each had two hits for the Purple Knights on Tuesday.
Junior Mark Hirschbeck (Trumbull, Conn.) also had two hits and drove in a pair for UB.
DeRubeis, senior Ben Torres (Hollywood, Fla.) and freshman Patrick Palmer (Ansonia, Conn.) each drove in a run for Bridgeport in the loss.
Senior Daren Grabowski (Berlin, Conn.) and graduate student Tom Rinaldi (Waterbury, Conn.) each extending their hitting streaks for the Purple Knights on Tuesday evening.
Up next, the Bridgeport baseball team will continue its Spring Break Trip in Florida playing a single game on Wednesday night at the University of Tampa. First pitch is slated for 6:00 p.m.
