New Haven, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport Baseball team saw its record slip to 1-7 in the early going of the 2018 season, as the Purple Knights dropped both ends of a doubleheader at Southern Connecticut State University on Sunday, falling in game one, 14-4, and dropping game two, 4-0. With the two wins, SCSU is now 5-2 on the season.
In game one, graduate student Tom Rinaldi (Waterbury, Conn.) went 4-for-4 and drove in three runs. Senior Jose Negron (New Haven, Conn.) has the other UB RBI opener.
In the nightcap, the host Owls scored all four of their runs in the bottom of the third inning, and the hosts limited UB to only two hits.
Up next, the UB baseball team is scheduled to travel to the University of New Haven on Tuesday afternoon.
