Uniondale, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport baseball scored a run in the top of the first inning on an RBI single by senior Casey McCone (Milford, Conn.), but that was all the scoring the Purple Knights would do on the afternoon, as UB fell in an East Coast Conference road game against the host Molloy College Lions on Wednesday afternoon, 3-1. UB is now 15-21 overall and 9-10 in conference play. Molly is now 17-20 overall and 10-7 in the ECC.
The Purple Knights threatened in the bottom of the ninth inning, as they loaded the bases with two out but could not push any runs across the plate.
Junior Daren Grabowski (Berlin, Conn.) had two hits to lead the Bridgeport offense on Wednesday.
Up next, the UB baseball team will look to snap a five-game losing streak at Queens (N.Y.) College on Friday afternoon. Game time in Flushing, N.Y. is set for 3:00 p.m.
