Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport baseball team saw its six-game winning streak snapped on Sunday afternoon, as the Mercy College Mavericks rallied from a 3-1 deficit with one run in the seventh inning and five runs in the eighth to post a 7-3 win over the Purple Knights, who were playing as the home team in the game played at Mercy Field. Bridgeport is now an even 8-8 overall and 3-1 in East Coast Conference play. Mercy is now 6-12 overall and 1-3 in the ECC.
Junior Cam Overbaugh (Catskill, N.Y.) had two hits and one RBI for UB on Sunday, and graduate student Zach Burger Orlando, Fla.) gave the Purple Knights a 2-1 lead with a two-RBI single in the fifth inning.
Bridgeport's Casey McCone (Sr., Milford, Conn.) and Stephen DiNicola (Jr., Rochester, N.Y.) each had two hits on Sunday.
Up next, the UB baseball team is scheduled to travel to Adelphi University of a single game on Tuesday afternoon slated for a 3:30 p.m. first pitch.
