Baseball Nipped In Low Scoring Affair By Dowling
Purple Knights Fall, 2-0-Close Out Regular Season Versus St. Thomas Aquinas At Home On Monday At 1:00 PM
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport baseball team fell in a pitchers' duel at home against the Dowling College Golden Lions on Sunday evening at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard, 2-0, as the visitors scored single runs in the third and seventh innings. UB is now 23-20-1 overall and 12-11 in the East Coast Conference. Dowling moves to 24-22 overall and 14-10 in the ECC.
Junior Anthony Alicki (Milford, Conn.) took the tough loss on Sunday, as he pitched well going eight innings in which he allowed two runs on six hits. Anthony fanned seven and did not walk a batter.
Sophomore Ben Torres (Hollywood, Fla.) had two of the Purple Knights' six hits on the night.
Up next, the UB baseball team will close out the 2016 regular season with a 1:00 p.m. home game at the Ballpark at harbor yard against St. Thomas Aquinas College. Bridgeport must win the game to advance to the 2016 East Coast Conference postseason championship tournament.
