Rindge, N.H.-Senior Alec Jannotta (Branford, Conn.) hit a grand slam home run in the top of the first inning, his second home run of the year, but that was all the offense the University of Bridgeport baseball team could muster on Wednesday afternoon, as the Purple Knights fell to one of the East Region's and the nation's top teams, the Franklin Pierce University Ravens, 8-4, in New Hampshire. UB is now 17-14-1 overall, and the Ravens raise their overall mark to 32-4.
Sophomore Ben Torres (Hollywood, Fla.) and junior Casey McCone (Milford, Conn.), each had two hits for Bridgeport on Wednesday.
The UB baseball team will look to snap a three-game losing streak on Thursday afternoon when they travel to Pace University for a non-conference contest.
