St. Petersburg, Fla.-The host Eckerd College Tritons plated four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to snap a 6-6 tie and post a 10-6 win over the visiting University of Bridgeport Purple Knights on Friday night in Florida. Friday's game featured two ties and three lead changes, as the visiting Purple Knights are now 5-6-1 overall. Eckerd raises its season mark to 9-10.
Sophomore Daren Grabowski (Berlin, Conn.) went 2-for-3 at the plate with two walks on Friday, as he also drove in a run and scored two for UB.
Classmate Jose Negron (New Haven, Conn.) also had two hits versus the Tritons.
UB senior Alnaydo Rodriguez (Bronx, N.Y.) crushed his team-leading fourth home run of the year for Bridgeport, a solo shot in the sixth inning. Rodriguez also leads the team in runs batted in with 15 so far in 2016.
The UB baseball team will close out its annual Spring Trip to the Sunshine State of Florida tomorrow at 12 noon when they face Eckerd College one more time.
