St. Leo, Fla.-The University of Bridgeport baseball team rallied from a 6-1 deficit to tie the game at 6-6 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, but the host Saint Leo Lions plated the winning run with outs in the bottom of the ninth to edge UB, 7-6. Bridgeport is now 5-5-1 overall, and the Lions raise the season record to 14-10.
Junior Casey Ouellette (New Canaan, Conn.) and sophomore Isaiah Rivera (Newington, Conn.), each went 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs batted in for the Purple Knights.
Casey McCone (Jr., Milford, Conn.) had UB's other RBI, as the team's sixth run scored on a successful double steal by Ouellette and sophomore Daren Grabowski (Berlin, Conn.) in the top of the seventh inning.
The UB baseball team will be idle on Thursday, and the team will be back in action on Friday evening at Eckerd College. Game time is 6:00 p.m.
