Myrtle Beach, S.C.-The University of Bridgeport baseball team dropped a pair of tight games versus the Felician College Golden Falcons in Myrtle Brach, South Carolina on a wet Saturday morning and afternoon, as Felician took game one, 3-1, and completed the sweep with a 3-2 victory. UB is now 0-3 on the young 2015 season, and Felician ups its record to 2-4.
In game one, the Golden Falcons broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the top of the seventh inning on a two-out triple by Branden Shaw.
The Purple Knights scored their only run in the opener on a pinch hit RBI single by junior Bryan Kondor (Shelton, Conn.).
Freshman Dave Egeland (Toms River, N.J.) took the loss in the opener on the hill for UB allowing only three hits in 6.1 innings pitched while striking out four. Junior Rob Anderson (Stratford, Conn.) finished game one with 2.2 innings of scoreless relief.
In game two, Felician scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to snap a 1-1 tie on their way to the win.
Sophomore Ray Kreiger (Derby, Conn.) took the loss in the nightcap allowing only one earned run in seven quality innings pitched as the starter.
Senior Mike Miniter (Branford, Conn.) had the lone RBI for Bridgeport in game two with a pinch hit single in the top of the ninth.
UB will close out its season-opening trip to Myrtle Beach on Sunday with two game, as the Purple Knights face Southern New Hampshire at 9:00 a.m. and Franklin Pierce at 12 noon.
