Baseball Earns Final Spot In 2014 ECC Championship Tournament

Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport baseball team has claimed the fourth and final spot in this season's East Coast Conference Championship Tournament that will be hosted by Dowling College from Thursday, May 8 through Saturday, May 10, 2014.  The Purple Knights went 11-13 in conference play this season and finished in a fourth play tie with LIU Post, but UB took the number four seed by virtue of 3-1 head-to-head record versus the Pioneers this season.  Bridgeport heads into the ECC Championship with a 17-26-1 record. 

Dowling is the number seed in the ECC Championship followed by number two seed St. Thomas Aquinas College and number three seed Molloy College.  UB will open play on Thursday in the double-elimination championship versus Dowling. The winner of the ECC Tournament will receive an automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Division II Championship that will begin the following week.
