Dowling Nips Baseball, 1-0, In Pitchers' Duel To Open Weekend Set
Same Two Teams Will Meet For A Doubleheader On Saturday
Brookhaven, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport baseball team suffered its sixth straight loss on Friday afternoon, as the Purple Knights dropped an old-fashion pitching duel to the Dowling College Golden Lions, 1-0. UB is now 6-13 overall in 214 and 0-5 in East Coast Conference action. Dowling raises its overall mark to 13-7, and the Golden Lions are 4-1 in the ECC.
Junior Brian O'Keefe (Milford, Conn.) was outstand on the mound for Bridgeport hurling a nine-inning complete game in which he allowed only one run, a one-out solo home run by DC's Daniel Parisi in the second inning, on three hits with 11 strike outs and two walks. The hard-luck loss drops his season record to 1-4.
Dowling's Tyler Badamo picked up the win on Friday firing a five-hit, complete game shutout in which he fanned 10 and walked only one. Badamo is now 3-1 on the season.
UB's Casey McCone (Milford, Conn.) had two hits on the day for the Purple Knights.
The same two teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader with Dowling serving as the home team, tomorrow, Saturday, March 29.
