Baseball Grabs Early Lead But Can't Hold On Versus Stonehill In Florida
Skyhawks Top Purple Knights, 10-4
Winter Park, Florida-The University of Bridgeport baseball team jumped out to a 4-0 lead after four innings, but the Purple Knights could not hold on as the Stonehill College Skyhawks stormed back to post a 10-4 win in a game played on the campus of Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. UB is 3-4 on the season, and Stonehill raises its record to 6-3 so far in 2014.
Junior Clayton Morris (Sharpsburg, Ga.) went 2-for-3 with one RBI and a run scored for UB, and junior Tim Bickford (Wallingford, Conn.) drove in Bridgeport's other run.
Freshman Adam Thayer (Ansonia, Conn.) took the loss on the mound for the Purple Knights to even his season mark at 1-1. Thayer worked 5.1 innings, allowing five runs (only three earned) on six hits with three strike outs and two walks.
The same two teams will meet again at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow at Rollins College.
