UB Baseball Blasts Nyack, 14-5
Purple Knights Now 7-11 On The Season
Bridgeport. Conn.-For the second game in the last three, the University of Bridgeport baseball team scored in double figures, as the Purple Knights scored a single-game season high 14 runs in a 14-6 non-conference home win over the visiting Nyack College Warriors on a bone-chilling Tuesday afternoon at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard. UB is now 7-11 overall, and Nyack falls to 3-13 on the season.
UB banged out 13 hits on the day led by sophomore Tim Bickford (Wallingford, Conn.) who went 4-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored. Senior Mike Olszyk (Hamden, Conn.) also drove in three runs, as he went 2-for-4 at the dish, and freshman Bryan Kondor (Shelton, Conn.) had a big day on offense going 3-for-6 with three RBI and two runs scored.
Senior Chris Maull (Winslow, N.J.) picked up his first win of 2013 on the mound for Bridgeport, as he went a strong seven innings as starter in which he allowed only four, three runs (only one earned) with eight strikeouts.
The Purple Knights are right back in action on Wednesday afternoon as they travel to local rival Southern Connecticut State. Game time in New Haven is set for 3:30 p.m.
