Brian O;Keefe Dazzles On The Mound For The Purple Knights Who Snap Three-Game Losing Skid
Winter Park, Fla.-The University of Bridgeport baseball snapped a three-game losing streak on Thursday afternoon with a 2-1 win over the Bentley University Falcons in Winter Park, Florida. UB is now 3-6 on the season, and Bentley slips to 6-7.
Sophomore pitcher Brian O'Keefe (Milford, Conn.) was outstanding on Thursday, as he evened his season record at 1-1 firing a complete game in which he allowed only one unearned run over nine innings in which he struck out 10 while walking only one and allowing six base hits.
Junior John Ascenzia (West Haven, Conn.) went 2-for-4 at the plate and scored both Bridgeport runs on the afternoon.
Sophomore Tim Bickford (Wallingford, Conn.) banged out three hits and drove in one run for the Purple Knights, and junior Michael James (Piscataway, N.J.) had UB's other run batted in.
The Bridgeport baseball team closed out its 2013 Spring Trip to Florida on Friday with two games against Stonehill College.
