Junior Zach Theulen Goes 3-For--6 Six At The Plate An Knocks In Winning Run
Waterbury, Conn.-Junior Zach Theulen (West Springfield, Mass.) drove home the game-winning run with two-single in the top of the twelfth inning to lift the University of baseball team to a 5-4 win over the host Post University Eagles on Thursday afternoon. Theulen went 3-for-6 on the day at the plate to lead an 11-hit offensive attack for the winners. UB is now 8-12 overall on the season. Post falls to 10-20.
Senior Matt Nassi (N. Providence, R.I.) was the only other Purple Knights' player to have more than one hit one the day as he went 2-for-5.
Junior Matt Wing (Brookville, Ontario, Canada), the fifth Bridgeport pitcher used in the game, picked up the win to even his season record at 2-2. Wing worked four innings in which he allowed two hits, two runs, both unearned, while striking out seven and issuing two walks.
The Bridgeport baseball team returns to East Coast Conference play on Saturday afternoon as they host C.W. Post in a doubleheader that begins at 12 noon at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
