UB Picks Up 7-4 ECC Baseball Win Over Mercy
Purple Knights Right Back In Action On Tuesday At Molloy
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport baseball team raised its overall record to 7-11 and its East Coast Conference mark to 4-5 with a 7-4 home win over the Mercy College Mavericks on a windy Monday afternoon in the Park City. Mercy is now 6-21 overall and 4-8 in conference play.
The UB offense had a total of 11 hits on Monday led by T.J. Mangan (Jr., Bronx, N.Y.) and seniors Ryan Barba (Stratford, Conn.) and Eric Schlitter (Guilford, Conn.), who each had two hits on the afternoon. Mangan added three runs batted in for the winners.
Senior Nick Vautrin (South Hadley, Mass.) pitched his second complete game to earn the win on the mound for Bridgeport. Vautrin is now 2-5 on the season. On Monday, Nick went the distance allowing nine hits, four runs (three earned). He also struck out six on the day.
The Purple Knights are right back in action on Tuesday afternoon at Molloy College. Game time on Long Island is set for 3:30 p.m.
