Number Of Student-Athletes Named to ECC Commissioner's Honor Roll Increases For 10th Straight Year
158 Purple Knights Recognized By The ECC
West Babylon, N.Y. - On Thursday afternoon, East Coast Conference Commissioner, Dr. Robert Dranoff, announced the list of student-athletes that have been named to the ECC Commissioner's Honor Roll for the 2018-2019 academic year. The total number of student-athletes on the honor roll increased for the 10th straight year, reaching an all-time high of 1,406. (1,336 in 2017-18; 1,267 in 2016-17; 1,255 in 2015-16; 1,125 in 2014-15; 1,102 in 2013-14; 979 in 2012-13; 759 in 2011-12; 678 in 2010-11; 654 in 2009-10; 617 in 2008-09; 613 in 2007-08).
"We are very proud to announce this group of Commissioner's Honor Roll recipients and especially pleased that the list continues to expand each year," stated Dranoff. "We hope that participating in the East Coast Conference and NCAA Division II will always provide a positive experience for our student-athletes in their sport, in the community, and of course in the classroom. Congratulations to all our honorees!"
For the eighth year in a row, LIU Post led the way with 255 student-athletes on the list. Molloy was runner-up with 188 honorees, while Bridgeport comes in third with 158. In addition, Mercy, NYIT, Roberts Wesleyan, and St. Thomas Aquinas each had over 100 student-athletes make the list.
The Commissioner's Honor Roll is awarded to student-athletes who receive a 3.25 or better cumulative grade point average. This annual recognition, in addition to Scholar-Athlete awards, helps to uphold the East Coast Conference's mission of promoting the total person and the ability to excel not only in the athletic arena but also in the classroom.
